We matched a weather record today

Friday.
It's Feb 4, 2011.  That's right, February, right smack dab in the middle of winter.  Most of the country is in a deep freeze with one storm after another piling snow with more in the forecast for the central to the eastern coast.
But, here on the west coast, we are (thankfully and not bragging) enjoying some spectacular days.  The sun has been smiling on us and we are soaking it up.
Of course this is not to say we didn't get our share of nasty weather.  We did!  In fact we had so much rain that our rivers were rising and there were mudslides all up and down the coast and inland flooding as well.
But today is worth mentioning because today we matched a weather record, 60F for a high.  Wow!  It is glorious.  I love Eugene and this is one of the reasons I do.  We have so many differing micro climates around us, but here in Eugene we stay fairly consistent.  Yes, we do have bone chilling cold, but fortunately it doesn't stay around long.
I do feel for those folks out across the US in this record breaking winter and hope it all starts to let up soon for them.  No one deserves that much snow and ice )~:  I just wonder where they put it all when they plow it up.  There is only so much a river can take and let us not forget the environmental impact of all that road grime being dumped into the ecosystem...YIKES!
~ Woe to the environment...we must find a better way
